Gearing Up 4 Gorillas' (G4G) is the only UK charity that focuses 100% on the conservation of the mountain gorilla in Virunga National Park, eastern DR Congo, through providing funds and equipment to the rangers whose job it is to protect them.

G4G funds equipment used by the international team of veterinarians known as the Gorilla Doctors.

Gorilla Doctors – Target: £2,500 per year

The famous American gorilla researcher Dian Fossey had always aspired to having a veterinary organisation to care for the gorillas. The Gorilla Doctors are now fulfilling her dream.

In the past, G4G has provided sets of rain gear, enhancement toys for orphan gorillas and several key items of veterinary equipment to assist the Gorilla doctors in their vital work. These include two i-Stat machines (portable clinical analysers to aid ailment diagnosis in the field) and a ‘Coolscope’ (enables diseased tissue to be examined via the internet rather than physically sending the samples to the USA).

G4G now aims to fund a further list of equipment  that the Gorilla Doctors need:
